Donatella Fermata

Boston’s operatic diva in drag

Forget the concert hall .…

Donatella shows you that classical music is better with a stiff drink in hand. Born as an outlet for self-expression during the Covid-19 pandemic, Donatella Fermata has risen to become one of Boston’s premiere live singing drag artists. Donatella embodies all of the elegance of an old-school diva with the confidence of a modern superstar.

Recipient of a 2022 grant from Mixtape Recital Series, Donatella continues to push the boundaries of what is “right” and in classical music. Through bold programming in accessible spaces, her creative endeavors seek to deconstruct the barriers to classical music many communities face. This season, Donatella makes her professional operatic debut as the Sorceress in Purcell’s Dido and Aeneas with Atlanta Baroque Orchestra.

“Michael Galvin...effectively stole the show as the jumbo-sized drag-queen sorceress...for the first time, he combined both sides of his art in one unforgettable character.” - Arts Atlanta
